Code No. P170E: ASC Error Information <Vehicles with FCM-LS>

FUNCTION

The system monitors whether the ASC-ECU transmits an unfeasible signal via CAN.

A diagnosis code may be set before an ASC-related sensor is calibrated. However, the vehicle is normal as long as no diagnosis codes are set in the ASC-ECU).

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT

Check Conditions

More than 5 seconds have passed since the ignition switch was turned to "ON" position.
After the engine starts

Judgement Criterion

Information that calibration has not been performed or fail information is continuously received from the ASC-ECU.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION

The RMS (Foward) and FCM-LS are prohibited.

PROBABLE CAUSES

Failed ASC system
Failed CAN bus line (noise interference)
Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnosis

Use M.U.T.-III to perform CAN bus line diagnosis.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 2.

	Repair CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting - CAN Bus Diagnostics Table ). After repairing CAN bus line, go to Step 2 .

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Confirm the diagnosis code is set in the ASC-ECU.

Q. Is diagnosis code set?

	Perform troubleshooting of the active stability control (ASC) (Refer to GROUP 35C - Diagnosis Code Chart ).

	Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is diagnosis code set?

	Replace engine-ECU.

	Intermittent malfunction in CAN bus line between engine-ECU and EPS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
