PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Perform resistance measurement at electronic-controlled throttle valve connector.



  • Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
  • Resistance between terminal TPSE line and earth.
OK: Continuity (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check of damage in TPSE line between electronic-controlled throttle valve connector and engine-ECU connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 3. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code



  • Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is diagnosis code set?

Replace the engine-ECU.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).

STEP 4. Check of damage in TPS5 line between electronic-controlled throttle valve connector and engine-ECU connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Check of damage in TPSM line between electronic-controlled throttle valve connector and engine-ECU connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. Check of damage in TPSS line between electronic-controlled throttle valve connector and engine-ECU connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 7. Replace throttle body assembly.



  • After replacing the throttle body assembly, reconfirm whether the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Replace the engine-ECU.
