Code No. P0705: Malfunction of Inhibitor Switch
DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION
CVT-ECU monitors the signal from the inhibitor switch, and determines if the abnormal input is present or not.
JUDGEMENT CRITERIA
- CVT-ECU does not detects the inhibitor switch input signal for 10 seconds when the vehicle speed is 3 km/h or more.
- CVT-ECU detects the multiple inputs from the inhibitor switch for 2 seconds.
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Malfunction of the inhibitor switch
- Improper adjustment of transmission control cable
- Damaged wiring harness and connectors
- Malfunction of CVT-ECU

STEP 1. Check the following connector
|
|
|
- Inhibitor switch connector
- CVT-ECU connector
|
|
|
Check the terminals for a contact status problem and internal short circuit.
|
|
|

 Repair the defective connector(s).
|
|
|
|
|
|
STEP 2. Check for open circuit in INHP, INHR, INHN, INHD and INHL line between the inhibitor switch connector and the CVT-ECU connector

Repair the connector(s) or the wiring harness.

|

STEP 3. Inhibitor switch and control cable adjustment

Adjust the inhibitor switch and the control cable.

|
|
Replace the inhibitor switch.
|

|
STEP 5. Voltage measurement at CVT-ECU connector (INHP, INHR, INHN, INHD and INHL terminal)
|
|
|
(1)Connect the inhibitor switch connector.
|
|
|
(2)Disconnect the CVT-ECU connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
|
|
|
(3)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
|
|
|
(4)Measure the voltage at each terminal when the selector lever is moved to each range.
- At P range: Between the CVT-ECU connector (INHP terminal) and body earth
- At R range: Between the CVT-ECU connector (INHR terminal) and body earth
- At N range: Between the CVT-ECU connector (INHN terminal) and body earth
- At D range: Between the CVT-ECU connector (INHD terminal) and body earth
- At B range or L range: Between the CVT-ECU connector (INHL terminal) and body earth
OK: 10 V or more
