Inspection Procedure 7: Trunk lid unlock function does not work.



caution Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


When the KOS&OSS-ECU receives an ON signal from the trunk lid opener switch or an ON signal* from the trunk lid switch in the keyless operation key, the ECU will request the ETACS-ECU to open the trunk lid. Then the ETACS-ECU will open the trunk lid.
note Press the trunk lid switch twice (press the switch once, and press it again within 5 seconds).

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics


Use the M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54C - Troubleshooting ).

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code


Check that KOS&OSS-ECU sets a diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Refer to diagnosis code chart .

Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check of the troubles


Which of the trunk lid opener switch and the keyless operation key does not work to unlock the trunk lid?

Q. Which does not work to unlock the trunk lid?

Neither works to unlock the trunk lid. : Go to Step 4.

The trunk lid opener switch does not work to unlock the trunk lid. : Go to Step 8.

The keyless operation key does not work to unlock the trunk lid. : Go to Step 12.

STEP 4. Trunk lid latch actuator check


Check that the trunk lid latch actuator is in good condition. Refer to GROUP 42A - Trunk lid .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Replace the trunk lid latch.

STEP 5. Check of open circuit in earth line between trunk lid latch connector and the body earth


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. Check of short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit in TROP line between ETACS-ECU connector and trunk lid latch connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 7. Check of the troubles


Check whether the trunk lid unlock function works.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Replace ETACS-ECU.

STEP 8. Trunk lid opener switch check


Check that the trunk lid opener switch is in good condition. Refer to GROUP 42A - Trunk lid .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 9.

Replace the trunk lid opener switch.

STEP 9. Check of open circuit in earth line between trunk lid opener switch connector and the body earth


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 10. Check of short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit in GTRQ line between KOS&OSS-ECU connector and trunk lid opener switch connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 11.

Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 11. Check of the troubles


Check whether the trunk lid unlock function works.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Replace KOS&OSS-ECU.

STEP 12. Check the operation of the keyless entry system.


Operate the transmitter and check that all doors lock and unlock.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 13.

Refer to Inspection Procedure 8: "Keyless entry system does not work" .
