caution Before replacing the combination meter, be sure to check that the power supply circuit, earth circuit, and communication circuit are normal.


COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If the seat belt reminder function does not work normally, the seat belt switch input circuit, or the combination meter may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the seat belt switch and seat belt reminder sensor.



  • Refer to GROUP 52A - Seat Belt. <seat belt switch>
  • Refer to GROUP 52A - Front Seat Assembly . <seat belt reminder sensor>

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Replace the seat belt switch or seat belt reminder sensor.

STEP 2. Resistance measurement at the seat belt switch (driver’s side) connector, seat belt switch (passenger’s side) connector.


(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Measure the resistance between the seat belt switch (driver’s side) connector, seat belt switch (passenger’s side) connector (earth terminals) and the body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check of open circuit in body earth line between seat belt switch (driver’s side) connector or seat belt switch (passenger’s side) and the body earth.


Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 4. Check of short to power supply circuit in S/B- or SBAS line between combination meter connector and seat belt switch (driver’s side) connector or seat belt switch (passenger’s side) connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Retest the system.


The seat belt reminder function should work normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
Replace the combination meter.
