LASER RADAR CHECK

caution
  • When the ignition switch is ON, the infrared light is irradiated from the lens on the front part of the laser radar. Do not look into the irradiated area with optical equipment having a magnification function near the laser radar (within approximately 10 cm) because the infrared light can damage your eyes.
  • For safety, keep a distance of 4 m or more in front of the vehicle for inspection.
Before following the procedures described later to inspect the laser radar, perform the following operations.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.Create a reflector by pasting commercial aluminium foil on a plastic board or cardboard whose length of a side is 50 cm.
note
  • When creating a reflector, use light material. If a reflector is created with heavy material, it can injure someone when dropped.
  • Paste the aluminium foil on the plastic board or cardboard with the glossy surface of the aluminium foil up.
  • Do not use crumpled aluminium foil.
  • Smooth out the aluminium foil and paste in on the plastic board or cardboard.
  • There is no problem to lay a sheet of aluminium foil on another when pasting it on the plastic board or cardboard.
  • Paste the aluminium foil with a sheet of commercial paper, picture, glue for cloth, and double-sided tape.
  • Do not use torn aluminium foil.
2.

Install a reflector as shown in the figure above. The reflector should be 2.5 m away from the front of a vehicle and on the centre line of a vehicle, and the distance between the ground and the top of the reflector (installation height) is 1 m.
note For inspection, stop the vehicle on a flat surface and adjust the air pressure of the tyre to the specified air pressure. Keep the trunk and inside the vehicle empty, and inspect the vehicle.
3.Connect the M.U.T.-III and check that the display of the service data No. 7 relative distance (control value) shows 4 m. When the display of the relative distance (control value) shows an error of ± 0.5 m or more, check the installation position of the laser radar.

4.

Slide the reflector for 1 m from side to side as shown in the figure, and check that the display of the service data No. 7 relative distance (control value) shows 0 m. If the display of the service data No. 7 relative distance (control value) does not show 0 m even after sliding of the reflector for 1 m, check the installation position of the laser radar.

5.Check end.
