INSPECTION PROCEDURE P-9: When the sunroof switch is operated, the switch signals are not received.

caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input signal circuit is normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the input signal from the sunroof switch is abnormal, the sunroof input check response signal will not be sent to the SWS communication line.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

  • Malfunction of the sunroof assembly
  • Malfunction of the sunroof switch
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Step 1. ECU check on the SWS monitor

Check that the power supply and earth lines to the sunroof-ECU and the SWS communication lines are normal.

  • Ignition switch: ON
ECUS TO BE CHECKED
  • Sunroof-ECU
OK: "OK" is displayed on the "sunroof-ECU" menu.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Refer to Inspection Procedure A-6 "Communication with the sunroof motor assembly (sunroof-ECU) is not possible ."

Step 2. Connector check: E-05 sunroof switch connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Repair the defective connector.

Step 3. Check the sunroof switch.

Refer to GROUP 42 - Sunroof .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Replace the sunroof switch.

Step 4. Resistance measurement at the E-05 sunroof switch connector.

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.

(2)Continuity between E-05 sunroof switch connector terminal No.2 and body earth
OK: 2Ω or less

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Go to Step 5.

Step 5. Check the wiring harness between E-05 sunroof motor switch connector terminal No.2 to body earth.

  • Check the earth wires for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Repair the wiring harness.

Step 6. Connector check: E-07 sunroof motor assembly connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Repair the defective connector.

Step 7. Check the wiring harness from E-07 sunroof motor assembly connector terminal Nos. 6 and 8 to E-05 sunroof switch connector terminal Nos. 3 and 1.

  • Check the input line for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.

Repair the wiring harness.

Step 8. Confirm communication data by using the SWS monitor.
