Inspection Procedure O-7: The door-ajar warning lamp does not illuminate/extinguish normally.


caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.


COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If the door-ajar warning lamp does not work normally, the input signal circuit, the CAN bus line, or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

  • Malfunction of the combination meter
  • The CAN bus line is defective.
  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Step 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics.
Use the M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Repair the CAN bus line (Refer to GROUP 54F, Diagnosis ).

Step 2. Check for combination meter diagnosis code.
Check whether the combination meter-related diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?
Diagnose the combination meter (Refer to GROUP 54A - Troubleshooting ).
Go to Step 3.

Step 3. ECU check by using the SWS monitor
Check that the power supply and earth lines to the ETACS-ECU and the SWS communication lines are normal.

  • Ignition switch: OFF
ECUS TO BE CHECKED
  • ETACS ECU
OK: "OK" is displayed on the "ETACS ECU" menu.

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Refer to Inspection Procedure A-3 "Communication with the ETACS-ECU is not possible ."

Step 4. SWS monitor data list.
Check the input signal from the driver’s door switch.

Step 5. ETACS switch data by using the SWS monitor
Check the SWS communication signal, which is related to the door-ajar warning lamp.

Step 6. ETACS ANALOG data by using the SWS monitor.
Check the ETACS-ECU signal related to the door-ajar warning lamp.

  • Set the simulated vehicle speed at approximately 10km/h.

Refer to inspection procedure P-23 "The vehicle speed signal is not received ."

Step 7. M.U.T.-III actuator test
Perform the actuator test for the combination meter, and check that the door-ajar warning lamp illuminates (Refer to GROUP 54A - Combination Meter ).

Q. Is the check result normal?
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
Replace the combination meter.
