INSPECTION PROCEDURE C-6: Selector "P" position-linked door unlock function does not operate.



caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.


COMMENT ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If the doors are not unlocked when the selector lever is shifted to the P position, the shift position signal input circuit(s) or the ETACS-ECU may be defective. Also, the function to interlock the shift P position with door unlocking may have been disabled with a customisation function.

POSSIBLE CAUSES



  • Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


Step 1. Checking central door unlocking operation


Check that the central door locking system works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Refer to Inspection Procedure C-1 "Central door locking system does not work ."

Step 2. Customize function by using the SWS monitor


Use the SWS monitor customisation function to confirm that "P UNLOCK ACT" is set other than to "W/O FUNCTION" (one of the settings below).

  • With function
  • P/W locking-dependent

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Use the SWS monitor customisation function to set "P UNLOCK ACT" to other than "W/O FUNCTION", one of the settings below. (Refer to.)

Step 3. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code


Check if the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Diagnose the automatic transmission system (Refer to GROUP 23A - Troubleshooting ).
Go to Step 4.

Step 4. Retest the system.


Check that shifting the selector lever to the P position unlocks the doors.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points ).
Replace the ETACS-ECU.
