Code No. P0010: Oil Feeder Control Valve System

OPERATION

Power is supplied to the oil feeder control valve from the engine control relay.
The engine-ECU connector terminal OCV makes the power transistor in the unit be in ON position, and that makes currents go on the oil feeder control valve.

FUNCTION

The engine-ECU controls the spool valve position of the oil feeder control valve corresponding to the driving condition of the engine and continuously changes the angle of the camshaft.

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT

Check Conditions

Ignition switch is "ON" position.
Battery positive voltage is more than 11 V and is less than 16.5 V.

Judgement Criteria

The engine-ECU terminal current value of oil feeder control valve circuit is less than 0.1 A for 2 seconds.
The engine-ECU terminal current value of oil feeder control valve circuit is more than 2.9 A.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION

V.V.T. phase angle becomes most retarded angle.

PROBABLE CAUSES

Failed oil feeder control valve
Open/short circuit or harness damage in oil feeder control valve circuit or loose connector contact
Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check oil feeder control valve itself.

Check oil feeder control valve itself (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 2.

	Replace the oil feeder control valve.

STEP 2. Perform voltage measurement at oil feeder control valve connector.

Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
Ignition switch: ON
Voltage between terminal OCV line and earth.

OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 3.

	Repair or replace the connector(s), or check and repair the harness of short circuit to earth, and open circuit in OCV line between engine control relay connector and oil feeder control valve connector.

STEP 3. Perform voltage measurement at engine-ECU connector.

Disconnect connector, and measure at harness side.
Ignition switch: ON
Voltage between terminal OCV line and earth.

OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 4.

	Repair or replace the connector(s), or check and repair the harness of short circuit to earth, and open circuit in OCV line between oil feeder control valve connector and engine-ECU connector.

STEP 4. Check of damage in power supply line between engine control relay connector and oil feeder control valve connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 5.

	Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Check of damage in OCV line between oil feeder control valve connector and engine-ECU connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 6.

	Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is diagnosis code stored?

	Replace the engine-ECU.
