No receive fault detect signal
| caution |
- If there is any
problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect diagnosis code may be set. Prior to this diagnosis,
diagnose the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C, CAN Bus Diagnostics Table
 ).
- Whenever ECU is replaced, ensure that the CAN bus lines are normal.

OPERATION
The signals from the ETACS-ECU are sent to the EPS-ECU.
DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITION
EPS-ECU receives the fault detect enable data from the ETACS-ECU via CAN bus lines. If
the EPS-ECU cannot receive the fault detect enable data from the ETACS-ECU, diagnosis code No.U0141
will be set.
TROUBLE JUDGEMENT
EPS-ECU receives the fault detect enable data from the ETACS-ECU via CAN bus lines. If
the EPS-ECU cannot receive the fault detect enable data from the ETACS-ECU for 5 seconds since
the ignition switch is turned from LOOK (OFF) to ON position, diagnosis code No. U1190 will
be set.
COMMENT ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
Current trouble
- The ETACS-ECU fault detect enable, ETACS-ECU itself, or EPS-ECU itself may be faulty.
Past trouble
- Carry out diagnosis with particular emphasis on wiring harness and connectors relevant
to the ETACS-ECU. For diagnosis procedures, refer to "How to Treat Past Trouble" (GROUP 00 - How to
Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points ).
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Defective harness wire(s) or connector(s)
- The ETACS-ECU may be defective
- Malfunction of the EPS-ECU

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnosis
|
|
|
Use the M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.
|
|
|

Is the check result satisfactory?
|
|
|
 Go to Step 2.
|
|
|
|
|
|
 Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C, Troubleshooting ).
After repairing the CAN bus lines, go to Step 2.

|
STEP 2. Use M.U.T.-III to confirm a diagnosis code of other systems.
|
|
|
Check if the ETACS-ECU sets a diagnosis code.
|

Diagnose the ETACS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 54A - Troubleshooting ).
|

Go to Step 3.
|

STEP 3. Diagnosis code recheck
|
|
|
(1)Erase the diagnosis code.
|
|
|
(2)Turn the ignition switch from the "LOCK" (OFF) position to the "ON" position.

(3)Check if the diagnosis code is set.

Replace the EPS-ECU (Refer to ), and then go to
Step 4.

|
An intermittent malfunction such as poor contact or open circuit is suspected
in the ETACS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service
Point - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 4. Diagnosis code recheck
|
|
|
(1)Erase the diagnosis code.
|
|
|
(2)Turn the ignition switch from the "LOCK" (OFF) position to the "ON" position.

|
(3)Check if the diagnosis code is set.
