COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
- If the ETACS-ECU receives the lighting switch fail signal, the ETACS-ECU stores diagnosis code No. B1763.
- If the ETACS-ECU receives the wiper/washer switch fail signal, the ETACS-ECU stores diagnosis code No. B1764.
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Malfunction of column switch (with built-in column-ECU)
- Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Check whether the diagnosis code is stored again.
Check again if the diagnosis code is stored in the ETACS-ECU.

(1)Erase the diagnosis code.
|
|
|
(2)Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
|

|
(3)Check if diagnosis code No. B1763 or B1764 is stored.

Is the diagnosis code stored?
Go to Step 2.
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction 
).
STEP 2. Check whether the diagnosis code is stored again.
Check again if the diagnosis code is stored in the ETACS-ECU.

(1)Replace the column switch (with built-in column-ECU).
|
|
|
(2)Erase the diagnosis code.
|
|
|
(3)Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
|
|
|
(4)Check if diagnosis code is stored.

Replace the ETACS-ECU.
The diagnosis is complete.
