PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. M.U.T.-III data list.


Check the following data list. (Refer to ).

  • Item 1: AWC control mode

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Follow combination meter trouble symptom procedure 9 "The combination meter lamp does not illuminate normally or the multi-information display is not displayed normally."


Refer to GROUP 54A - Combination Meter.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Repair it. Then go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Retest the system.


Q. Does the malfunction occur again?

Go to Step 4.
This diagnosis is complete.

STEP 4. Resistance measurement between the S-AWC drive mode-selector connector terminals


(1)Remove the S-AWC drive mode-selector (Refer to GROUP 52B - Front floor console).
(2)Measure the resistance between the terminals (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Replace the S-AWC drive mode-selector (Refer to GROUP 52B - Front floor console). Then go to Step 7.

STEP 5. Wiring harness check


(1)Check the wiring harness between the AWC-ECU connector (terminal SW-1) and the S-AWC drive mode-selector connector.
(2)Check the connector(s) or terminal(s) or wiring harness above for damage or other problem.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or terminal(s) or wiring harness.Then go to Step 7.

STEP 6. Resistance measurement at the S-AWC drive mode-selector connector


(1)Disconnect the S-AWC drive mode-selector connector.
(2)Measure the resistance between the S-AWC drive mode-selector wiring harness side connector and the body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.
Repair the connector(s) or terminal(s) or wiring harness.Then go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Retest the system.


Q. Does the malfunction occur again?

Replace the AWC-ECU. (Refer to .)
This diagnosis is complete.
