DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION


When the system fails

<STANDARD METER>
    "4WD-E" and "LOCK" flash on the drive mode indicator simultaneously.

<HIGH CONTRAST METER>
    The multi-information display shows "4WD system inspection" at the centre, and "4WD" flashes on the drive mode indicator.

When the 4WD system oil temperature is warned

<STANDARD METER>
    "4WD-E" and "LOCK" will flash alternately on the drive mode indicator, and the system will disable the drive mode selector to protect the drive train components.

<HIGH CONTRAST METER>
    "4WD ECO", "4WD AUTO" or "4WD LOCK" will flash on the drive mode indicator and "4WD oil temperature warning decelerate the vehicle" will be displayed. Then the system will disable the drive mode selector to protect the drive train components.

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION


If any malfunction occurs in the signal of sensors, switches, solenoids, or others, the 4WD-ECU controls the system to avoid the driver injury and the system damage. The control contents are as follows.

  • "4WD-E" and "LOCK" flash on the drive mode indicator alternately to alert the driver. Then the system will enter the mode to protect the drive train components.<Standard meter>
  • The multi-information display will trigger a 4WD system oil temperature warning to alert the driver. Then the system will enter the mode to protect the drive train components.<High contrast meter>

note All of the fail-safe functions will be abled again by turning OFF → ON the ignition switch.
