Inspection Procedure 5: A 4WD system check screen is displayed on the centre of the multi-information display and a "4WD" symbol flashes at the left top. But no diagnosis codes are stored.
COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
When a 4WD system check screen is displayed on the centre of the multi-information display and a "4WD" symbol flashes at the left top without storing any diagnosis codes, the power supply to the 4WD-ECU may be defective.
If the 4WD-ECU power supply voltage is approximately 6.0 V or less when the system is in operation (always), the 4WD-ECU automatically shuts down. At this time, if the 4WD control is in operation, it switches to the 2WD control. 4WD-ECU cannot set the diagnosis code because the CPU shuts down. In this case, the combination meter will determine that the 4WD-ECU is timed out, and then display "4WD system check" at the centre of the multi-information display and make "4WD" symbol flash at the left top.
PROBABLE CAUSES
Damaged wiring harness and connectors
4WD-ECU malfunction
