Inspection Procedure 1: The TPMS warning lamp stays ON.

caution
  • If there is any problem in the CAN bus lines, an incorrect diagnosis code may be set. Prior to this diagnosis, diagnose the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C - CAN Bus Diagnostics Table).
  • Whenever ECU is replaced, ensure that the CAN bus lines are normal.

OPERATION

COMMENT ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

This may be caused by faults in the CAN bus line, combination meter or ETACS-ECU <Vehicles without KOS> or KOS-ECU.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Inspect the all tyres.

Visually check road tyres for any sign of air leak or puncture.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Replace the valve or valve core, or repair the flat tyre. Replace the tyre if necessary. Then go to Step 2.

STEP 2. After the tyre inflation pressure is adjusted and the TPMS transmitter sends inflation pressure information on it, check the TPMS warning lamp.

(1)Wait until the tyres cool down, and adjust road tyre inflation pressures to the value specified on the tyre pressure label.
(2)Turn the ignition switch (engine starting switch) from the "LOCK" (OFF) to "ON" position.
(3)Drive the vehicle for 5 minutes.
(4)Check the TPMS warning lamp.

Q. Is the TPMS warning lamp turned off?

The procedure is complete.
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check the tyre inflation pressure again.

Use a tyre pressure gauge to check that road tyre inflation pressures meet the value specified on the tyre pressure label.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Replace the valve or valve core, or repair the damaged tyre. Replace the tyre if necessary. Then return to Step 2.

STEP 4. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics

Use M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C - CAN Bus Diagnostics Table). Then go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check whether the diagnosis code is set.

Use M.U.T.-III to check whether diagnosis code No. C1912, C1922, C1932 or C1942 (Tyre air pressure low) is set.

Q. Is diagnosis code No. C1912, C1922, C1932 or C1942 set?

Carry out troubleshooting for diagnosis codes No. C1912/C1922/C1932/C1942 (Tyre air pressure low) (Refer to ).
Replace the KOS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 42B - KOS-ECU ) <Vehicles without KOS> or ETACS-ECU (Refer to GROUP 54A - ETACS-ECU ) and register the ID codes. Then go to Step 6.

STEP 6. Check the TPMS warning lamp.

Q. Does the TPMS warning lamp turn OFF after 3 seconds of initial lamp check?

Go to Step 7.
Replace the combination meter assembly (Refer to GROUP 54A - Combination Meter Assembly). Then go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Retest the system.

Q. Does the TPMS warning lamp turn ON and OFF normally?

The procedure is complete.
Repeat the troubleshooting from Step 1.
