REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

caution
  • When removing and installing the rear wheel speed sensor, make sure that the sensor tip does not contact with surrounding parts to avoid damage.
  • Because the vehicle speed detection encoder is magnetised, deposition of metal objects are prone to occur. Make sure that the magnetic encoder, which detects road wheel speed, should not collect any metallic particle. Check that there is not any trouble prior to reassembling it. In addition, always keep magnetic substances away from the magnetic encoder.
  • The parts indicated by *1 should be temporarily tightened, and then fully tightened with the vehicle standing on the ground virtually and the curb weight condition.
  • *2 indicates a bolt with stabilizer for coefficient of friction. When you tighten it, note the following:

    • Check the bolt for any damage.
    • Clean the seating and thread of the bolt.
    • Observe the specified torque.
  • The bolt indicated by *3 should be always replaced with a new one.
Pre-removal Operation
  • Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Removal (Refer to GROUP 35B - Wheel Speed Sensor ).

Post-installation Operation
  • Using Your fingers, Press the Ball Joint Dust Cover to Check for a Crack or Damage.
  • Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Installation (Refer to GROUP 35B - Wheel Speed Sensor ).
  • Wheel Alignment Check and Adjustment.
  • Parking Brake Lever Stroke Check and Adjustment (Refer to GROUP 36, On-vehicle Service - Parking Brake Lever Stroke Check and Adjustment) <Vehicles Without Electric Parking Brake System>.
  • Check the Beam Direction of the Headlamp (Low Beam) (Refer to GROUP 54A - Headlamp Aiming).
