BRAKE AUTO HOLD FUNCTION <VEHICLES WITH ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE>



General



When you press the brake auto hold switch while the vehicle is driven or stationary, the system enters the brake auto hold mode, which constant braking force is held hydraulically. In this mode, you can release the brake pedal while you wait for a traffic light or are in a traffic jam

Press the brake auto hold switch while the vehicle is driven or stationary with the seat belt fastened.
Stop the vehicle to wait for a traffic light, and then release the brake pedal. The ASC holds the vehicle stationary hydraulically.*
Start the vehicle by depressing the accelerator pedal.

note *: When any of the conditions is satisfied while the vehicle is held stationary hydraulically, the electric parking brake holds the vehicle instead:
The electric parking brake is activated under any of the conditions below:
  • Unfasten the seat belt (driver’s side).
  • Open the door.
  • Turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position.
  • The system detects the movement of the vehicle.
  • The vehicle is held stationary for ten minutes.
  • The selector lever is held halfway between any two positions for at least five seconds.
  • Malfunction of hydraulic unit (ASC-ECU)
When the electric parking brake holds the vehicle, the brake auto hold function will be deactivated. Then the brake auto hold switch indicator, the brake auto hold indicator and the stop lamp will go out.
