Code No. C2253:
EPB SW malfunction
OPERATION
- When you pull up the electric parking brake switch with the brake pedal depressed,
the parking brake will be applied.
- When you turn ON the ignition switch, and press the electric parking brake switch
with the brake pedal depressed, the parking brake will be released.
DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS
The diagnosis code will be set under any of the following conditions:
- The ECU detects an open circuit or short to earth in the electric parking
brake switch circuit.
- Input signal from lock switch 1 does not correspond to that from lock switch 2.
- Input signal from release switch 1 does not correspond to that from release switch
2.
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Damaged wiring harness or connector
- Open or short to earth in the wires between the electric parking brake ECU
and the electric parking brake switch, or high resistance in a connector
- Open in the wires between the electric parking brake switch and body earth, or high resistance
in a connector
- The electric parking brake switch seized or poor contact
- Malfunction of the electric parking brake ECU
