Inspection Procedure 5: The electric parking brake is engaged poorly (the vehicle moves) or the vehicle is pulled to one side or the other.



note When the vehicle moves with the parking brake applied, poor road condition or vehicle condition is suspected.

OPERATION


When you pull up the electric parking brake switch with the brake pedal depressed, the parking brake will be applied (locked).

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


This trouble symptom assumes that M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnosis result is OK and no diagnosis code is et.

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the rear disc brake.


Check the rear disc brake as follows:

  • Brake pad check (Refer to GROUP 35A - On-vehicle service ).
  • Brake disc check (Refer to GROUP 35A - On-vehicle service).
  • The rear brake callipers should work when you depress the brake pedal.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Repair or replace the rear brake caliper assembly (Refer to GROUP 35A - Rear Disc Brake Assembly ).

STEP 2. Retest the system


Q. Is the check result normal?

YES : Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
NO (the left rear wheel brake fails) : Repair or replace the electric parking brake actuator assembly (LH) (Refer to ).
NO (the right rear wheel brake fails) : Repair or replace the electric parking brake actuator assembly (RH) (Refer to ).
