Inspection Procedure 5: Although any vehicle is present within a detection area, the blind spot warning lamp on door mirror does not illuminate. (the system is on)



caution Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM



note The blind spot warning/rear cross traffic alert is affected by ambient environments and vehicle conditions. The customer may misunderstand the radar operation in the BSW-ECU, thus causing a complaint. Prior this diagnosis, determines whether the malfunction is cased by ambient environments or vehicle conditions.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the rear bumper, BSW-ECU and their surrounding for contamination or foreign material.


Visually check the rear bumper, BSW-ECU and their surrounding for contamination or foreign material.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Remove and clean the blockage or foreign material.

STEP 2. Check the rear bumper for scratches or dents.


Visually check the rear bumper for scratches or dents.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Go to Step 3.

Replace the Rear bumper assembly (Refer to GROUP 51 - Rear Bumper Assembly Removal and Installation ).

STEP 3. Check whether the BSW-ECUs (master/slave) are installed in right angle.

OK: -3° to +3°

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Replace the bracket of the BSW-ECU, which installation angle is not within the permissible angle above.

STEP 4. Retest the system


Drive the vehicle for approx. 10 minutes. Then check that the BSW works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Explain the customer that this system does not work under certain road conditions or ambient environments.

Replace the BSW-ECU, which corresponds to a defective blind spot warning lamp.
