REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION



Pre-removal Operation
  • Radiator Shroud Cover (Upper) Removal (Refer to GROUP 14 - Radiator ).

Post-installation Operation
  • Alternator Drive Belt Tension Check and Adjustment (Refer to ).
  • A/C compressor Drive Belt Tension Check and Adjustment (Refer to ).
  • Radiator Shroud Cover (Upper) Installation (Refer to GROUP 14 - Radiator ).

REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS



<<A>> A/C COMPRESSOR DRIVE BELT REMOVAL



1.Loosen the locking nut of the tensioner pulley.
2.
caution To reuse the drive belt, draw an arrow indicating the rotating direction (clockwise) on the back of the belt using chalk, etc.
Rotate the adjusting bolt to the anti-clockwise direction (to the left), and remove the drive belt.

<<B>> ALTERNATOR DRIVE BELT REMOVAL



1.Loosen the nut for alternator pivot bolt and locking bolt.
2.
caution To reuse the drive belt, draw an arrow indicating the rotating direction (clockwise) on the back of the belt using chalk, etc.
Rotate the adjusting bolt to the anti-clockwise direction (to the left), and remove the drive belt.

<<C>> CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT REMOVAL


caution Use only the specified special tools, or a damaged pulley damper could result.

1.Use the following special tools to hold the crankshaft pulley.

  • Pulley holder (MB991800)
  • Crank pulley holder (MB992100)
2.Loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt and remove the crankshaft pulley washer and crankshaft pulley.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINT



>>A<< CRANKSHAFT PULLEY/CRANKSHAFT PULLEY WASHER/CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT INSTALLATION



1.Clean and then degrease the crankshaft contacting surface of the crankshaft pulley.
note Degreasing is necessary to prevent decrease in the friction between contacting surfaces.
2.Clean the crankshaft pulley bolt hole in the crankshaft, the crankshaft contacting surface and crankshaft pulley washer contacting surface of the crankshaft pulley, and the crankshaft pulley washer.
3.Apply an appropriately small amount of oil to the threads and seating surface of the crankshaft pulley bolt.

caution Use only the specified special tools, or a damaged pulley damper could result.
Use the following special tools to stop the crankshaft pulley from turning in the same way as was done during removal.

  • Pulley holder (MB991800)
  • Crank pulley holder (MB992100)
5.Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 230 N·m
