REMOVAL SERVICE POINT



<<A>> OIL PAN REMOVAL



1.Remove the oil pan mounting bolts.
2.Knock the special tool Oil pan remover (MD998727) between the oil pan and cylinder block as shown in the illustration.
3.Tapping the side of the special tool Oil pan remover (MD998727), slide the tool along the oil pan/cylinder block seal and thus remove the oil pan.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS



>>A<< OIL JET INSTALLATION



Install the oil jet in such a way that its pin is located at the illustrated position.

>>B<< OIL PAN INSTALLATION



1.Apply sealant at the bottom of the mating surface of lower crankcase and timing gear case.
2.Apply even beads of sealant without skips to the circumferential mating surface of the oil pan as shown. Bead diameter 3.5 ± 1 mm

3.Install the oil pan to the lower crankcase within 15 minutes after the application of sealant.

    Specified sealant:
    Mitsubishi Genuine Part No.4171 or equivalent
caution
  • The surface to be coated with sealant must be clean and free of slush and other foreign matters.
  • When installing, take care that sealant does not smear other places.
  • After the oil pan is installed, wait for at least one hour before starting the engine.
  • Remove and reinstall the oil pan with fresh beads of sealant whenever the bolts (holding the oil pan) were loosened or removed after the installation.

>>C<< DRAIN PLUG GASKET INSTALLATION



caution If the gasket is installed in the wrong direction, oil leaks will occur.
Install the drain plug gasket in the direction shown.
