DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the speed meter


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2 .
Check the speed meter (Refer to GROUP 54A -Combination Meter Assembly - On-vehicle Service - Speedometer Check ).

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III data list



  • Refer to Data list reference table .

    1. Item 04: Vehicle speed sensor

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3 .
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).

STEP 3. Check connector: D-245 engine-ECU <M/T> connector or D-216 engine-A/T-ECU <A/T> connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4 .
Repair or replace the connector.

STEP 4. Check harness between D-245 (terminal No. 79) engine-ECU <M/T> connector or D-216 (terminal No. 79) engine-A/T-ECU <A/T> connector and C-16 (terminal No. 3) vehicle speed sensor connector.


note Before checking harness, check intermediate connectors D-228 and D-230, and repair if necessary.

  • Check output line for open circuit and damage.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5 .
Repair the damaged harness wire.

STEP 5. Check the trouble symptoms.


Q. Does trouble symptom persist?

Replace the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A/T-ECU <A/T>.
