Code No. 23: Engine-ECU <M/T> or Engine-A/T-ECU <A/T> and Its Related Components




DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS


This diagnosis code is set when there is an failure in the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A/T-ECU <A/T> and its related components.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the MPI system diagnosis code.



  • Refer to GROUP 13A - Troubleshooting, Diagnosis Function <6G72>.
  • Refer to GROUP 13B - Troubleshooting, Diagnosis Function <6G75>.

Q. Is any diagnosis code set?

Repair the MPI system. (Refer to GROUP 13A - Troubleshooting, Check Chart for Diagnosis Code ) <6G72> or (Refer to GROUP 13B - Troubleshooting, Check Chart for Diagnosis Code ) <6B75>. Then go to Step 3.
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Read the diagnosis code.


(1)Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal, and erase the diagnosis code of the auto-cruise control system.
(2)Connect the negative (-) battery terminal.
(3)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position, and press the "ON/OFF" (MAIN) switch to turn the auto-cruise control system to ON.
(4)Read the diagnosis code of the auto-cruise control system.

Q. Is diagnosis code No. 23 set?

Replace the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A/T-ECU <A/T> (Refer to GROUP 13A - Engine-ECU and Engine-A/T-ECU ) <6G72> or (Refer to GROUP 13B - Engine-ECU and Engine-A/T-ECU ) <6G75>. Then go to Step 3.
It can be assumed that this malfunction is intermittent (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 3. Read the diagnosis code.


(1)Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal, and erase the diagnosis code of the auto-cruise control system.
(2)Connect the negative (-) battery terminal.
(3)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position, and press the "ON/OFF" (MAIN) switch to turn the auto-cruise control system to ON.
(4)Read the diagnosis code of the auto-cruise control system.

Q. Is diagnosis code No. 23 set?

Return to Step 1 .
