Inspection Procedure 6: Hunting (Repeated Acceleration and Deceleration) Occurs at the Set Vehicle Speed.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

The vehicle speed sensor or the throttle body is suspected.

When the vehicle is driven with the low-speed gear in the sport mode, hunting occurs easily, however, this is not a failure. <A/T>

PROBABLE CAUSES

Malfunction of the vehicle speed sensor.
Malfunction of the throttle body.
Malfunction of the engine-ECU <M/T>.
Malfunction of the engine-A/T-ECU <A/T>.

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check the MPI system diagnosis code.

Refer to GROUP 13A - Troubleshooting, Diagnosis Function <6G72>.
Refer to GROUP 13B - Troubleshooting, Diagnosis Function <6G75>.

Q. Is any diagnosis code set?

	Repair the MPI system. (Refer to GROUP 13A - Troubleshooting, Check Chart for Diagnosis Trouble Code ) <6G72> or (Refer to GROUP 13B - Troubleshooting, Check Chart for Diagnosis Trouble Code ) <6G75>. Then go to Step 3.

	Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Retest the system

Q. Does a hunting occur?

	Replace the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A/T-ECU <A/T> (Refer to GROUP 13A - Engine-ECU and Engine-A/T-ECU ) <6G72> or (Refer to GROUP 13B - Engine-ECU and Engine-A/T-ECU ) <6G75>. Then go to Step 3.

	It can be assumed that this malfunction is intermittent (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

STEP 3. Retest the system

Q. Does a hunting occur?

	Return to Step 1.

	The procedure is complete.
