Code No.26: Stop lamp switch system






















OPERATION




DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS


In the case that the stop lamp switch is continuously turned ON for 15 minutes at the vehicle speed of 15 km/h and over, the code No.26 is set as the short circuit of the stop lamp switch.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the brake pedal height.


Refer to GROUP 35A - On-vehicle Service .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Adjust the brake pedal to the proper height.

Item 23: Stop lamp switch (Refer to data list reference table ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Measure the voltage at stop lamp switch connector D-134.


Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage between terminal No.2 and earth at the wiring harness side.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Go to step 4.

STEP 4. Connector check: D-134 stop lamp switch connector, D-241 intermediate connector.


Check for the contact with terminals.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 5. Check the harness between stop lamp switch connector D-134 terminal 2 and the battery.


Check the power supply line for short or open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 6. Measure the voltage at stop lamp switch connector D-134.


(1)Remove the stop lamp switch from the mounting bracket.
(2)Do not disconnect stop lamp switch connector D-134.
(3)Measure the voltage between stop lamp switch connector D-134 terminal No.1 and earth.
OK:

  • System voltage (When the stop lamp switch is depressed).
  • 1 V or less (When the stop lamp switch is released).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.
Go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Check the stop lamp switch.


Refer to GROUP 35A - Brake Pedal .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.
Replace the stop lamp switch (Refer to GROUP 35A - Brake Pedal ).

STEP 8. Measure the voltage at transfer-ECU connector D-123.


(1)Install the stop lamp switch into the mounting bracket if it was removed.
(2)Measure the voltage between transfer-ECU connector D-123 terminal No.34 and earth.
OK:

  • System voltage (When the brake pedal is depressed).
  • 1 V or less (When the brake pedal is not depressed).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 11.
Go to Step 9.

STEP 9. Connector check: D-228 intermediate connector, D-123 transfer-ECU connector.


Check for the contact with terminals.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 10. Check the harness between stop lamp switch connector D-134 terminal 1 and transfer-ECU connector D-123 terminal 34.


Check the output line for short or open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 11.
Repair the wiring harness.

Item 23: Stop lamp switch (Refer to data list reference table ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the PCM.
