Code No.P1770 (P0705): Inhibitor switch system
























OPERATION


The inhibitor switch detects the selector lever position (P, R, N, D) which the driver has selected, and sends the information to the ECU.

DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS


If the inhibitor switch has not been sending any signal for at least 30 seconds, an open circuit may be present and diagnosis code No.P1770 (P0705) is set.

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III data list


Item 34: Inhibitor switch (Refer to Data List Reference Table ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
NO none of the selector lever positions are displayed on M.U.T.-III : Go to Step 2.
NO only one of the selector lever positions is not displayed on M.U.T.-III : Go to Step 6.

STEP 2. Check the inhibitor switch.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Replace the inhibitor switch.

STEP 3. Connector check: C-05 Inhibitor switch connector, D-401 J/B connector, D-225 and D-229 intermediate connector


Check for the contact with terminals.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 4. Check the harness between inhibitor switch connector C-05 terminal No.7 and J/B connector D-401 terminal No 12.


Check the power supply line for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the wiring harness.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the A/T-ECU <4M4> or engine-A/T-ECU <6G7>.

STEP 6. Check the inhibitor switch.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.
Replace the inhibitor switch.

STEP 7. Connector check: C-05 inhibitor switch connector, D-39 A/T-ECU connector <4M4> or D-216 engine-A/T-ECU connector <6G7>, D-225 intermediate connector.


Check for the contact with terminals.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 8. Check the harness between inhibitor switch connector C-05 terminal No.3, 2, 8, 1 and A/T-ECU connector D-39 terminal No.67, 56, 66, 55 <4M4> or engine-A/T-ECU connector D-216 terminal No.76, 75, 67, 66 <6G7>.


Check the output line for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the wiring harness.
