GENERAL INFORMATION

The front axle consists of front hubs, knuckles, wheel bearings, driveshafts, and inner shaft, and it has the following features:

A free-wheel mechanism has been adopted which allows selection between 2WD and 4WD to be made while driving.
The wheel bearings used are double tapered roller type unit bearings with strong transverse load bearing ability.
The EUJ-EDJ constant velocity joint is adopted for the drive shaft to reduce the weight.
The resin boot is adopted for the drive shaft boot to reduce the thermal and aging deterioration.
Due to the use of the inner shaft, the right and left driveshafts are approximately the same in length. This reduces noise, vibration and torque steer.
The independent oil seal is used for the wheel bearing to enhance the muddy water-proof feature. <Vehicles with 17 inch disc brake>
The dust cover and the knuckle are tightened together. This reduces water intrusion from the wheel inside. <Vehicles with 17 inch disc brake>
ABS rotors for detecting the wheel speed are press-fitted to the EUJ outer race. <Vehicles with ABS>
