REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION



caution *: Indicates parts which should be initially tightened, and then fully tightened after placing the vehicle horizontally and loading the full weight of the engine on the vehicle body.
Pre-removal Operation
  • Under Skid Plate and Engine Room Under Cover (Front) Removal (Refer to GROUP 51 - Under Cover ).
  • Battery and Battery Tray Removal (Refer to GROUP 54A - Battery ).
  • Air Cleaner Assembly Removal <6G7> (Refer to GROUP 15 - Air Cleaner ).
  • Air Cleaner Assembly Removal <4M4> (Refer to GROUP 15 - Air Cleaner ).
  • Radiator Assembly Removal (Refer to GROUP 14 - Radiator ).

Post-installation Operation
  • Radiator Assembly Installation (Refer to GROUP 14 - Radiator ).
  • Air Cleaner Assembly Installation <6G7> (Refer to GROUP 15 - Air Cleaner ).
  • Air Cleaner Assembly Installation <4M4> (Refer to GROUP 15 - Air Cleaner ).
  • Battery and Battery Tray Installation (Refer to GROUP 54A - Battery ).
  • Under Skid Plate and Engine Room Under Cover (Front) Installation (Refer to GROUP 51 - Under Cover ).





Removal steps

Brake hose clip (Refer to GROUP 33 - Upper Arm Assembly )

Connecting bolt between steering gear and joint (Refer to GROUP 37 - Power Steering Gear Box and Linkage )

Power steering pressure hose mounting bolt (Refer to GROUP 37 - Power Steering Gear Box and Linkage )


·
A/T fluid cooler tube mounting bolt (Refer to GROUP 23A - A/T Fluid Cooler ) <A/T>


·
Vacuum hose (Refer to GROUP 26 - Differential Carrier and Free Wheeling Clutch Assembly )

REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS



<<A>> ENGINE MOUNTING BOLT/ENGINE MOUNTING NUT REMOVAL



1.Using special tools engine hanger balancer (MB991454), lift the engine assembly up to where no load is applied to the engine mounting <6G7>.

2.Using special tool sling chain set (MB991683), lift the engine assembly up to where no load is applied to the engine mounting <4M4>.
3.Remove the engine mount mounting bolts and nuts.

<<B>> ENGINE MOUNTING REMOVAL



1.Support the No.1 crossmember using the transmission jack.
2.Unscrew the No.1 crossmember mounting nut and then put down the No.1 crossmember to remove the engine mounting bracket.
