GENERAL INFORMATION

FEATURES

The 4ABS ensures directional stability and control during hard braking.
This ABS uses a 4-sensor system that controls all four wheels independently of each other.

Component
Number
Outline of functions
Sensor
Wheel speed sensor
1
Sends alternating voltage signals at frequencies which are proportional to the rotation speeds of each wheel to the ABS-ECU.
Stoplamp switch
2
Sends a signal to the ABS-ECU to indicate whether the brake pedal is depressed or not.
G sensor
3
Detects the acceleration level of the vehicle in the forward/reverse direction to send signals converted into a voltage value to the ABS-ECU.
It detects the longitudinal acceleration of the vehicle. Then it sends a signal to the ABS-ECU.
Centre differential lock detection switch
4
Detects the transfer driving mode.
Rear differential lock switch*
5*
Sends the rear differential lock state to ABS-ECU.
Actuator
Hydraulic brake booster (HBB)
6
Drives the solenoid valves according to signals from the ABS-ECU in order to control the brake hydraulic pressure for each wheel.
Valve relay
7
It is turned on/off by the signal from the ABS-ECU. The ABS-ECU shuts down the solenoid valves by this relay, when malfunction is detected.
HBB motor relay
8
Is turned on by the signal from the ABS-ECU, and energizes the motor in the HBB.
ABS warning lamp
9
Illuminates in response to signals from the ABS-ECU when a problem develops in the system.
Brake warning lamp
10
Illuminates in response to signals from the ABS-ECU when a problem develops in the system.
Diagnosis connector
11
Sets the diagnosis codes and allows communication with the M.U.T.-III.
ABS control unit (ABS-ECU)
12
Controls actuators (described above) based on the signals coming from each sensor.
Controls the self-diagnosis and fail-safe functions.
Controls the diagnosis function (M.U.T.-III compatible).
