DIAGNOSIS

STEP 1. Inspect the open circuit of centre differential lock switch input line.

note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check ABS-ECU connector D-250, centre differential lock switch connector C-12, and intermediate connector D-225, and repair if necessary.
Inspect the wiring harness between the ABS-ECU connector D-250 terminal No. 46 and the centre differential lock switch connector C-12 terminal No. 1.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Repair or replace the damaged component(s).

STEP 2. Voltage measurement at ABS-ECU connector D-250.

(1)Disconnect the connector D-250.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(3)Measure the voltage between terminal No.33 and earth.
OK: Approximately 5 V

Q. Is the check result normal?

YES (vehicles without rear differential lock) : Go to Step 3.
YES (Vehicles with rear differential lock) : Go to Step 4.
Go to Step 5.

STEP 3. Inspect the wiring harness between the ABS-ECU connector D-250 and the junction connector D-34 (vehicles without rear differential lock).

note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check ABS-ECU connector D-250, junction connector D-34, intermediate connectors D-219, D-230 and E-120, and repair if necessary.
Inspect the wiring harness between the ABS-ECU connector D-250 terminal No. 33 and the junction connector D-34 terminal No. 74.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair or replace the damaged component(s).

STEP 4. Inspect the open or short circuit between the ABS-ECU connector D-250 and the rear differential lock detection switch connector E-116 (vehicles with rear differential lock).

note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check ABS-ECU connector D-220, junction connector D-14, intermediate connectors D-211, D-222 and E-116, and repair if necessary.
Inspect the wiring harness between the ABS-ECU connector D-250 terminal No. 33 and the rear differential lock detection switch connector E-116 terminal No. 1.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair or replace the damaged component(s).

STEP 5. Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.

(1)Engine start.
(2)Move the transfer lever to the 4HLc or 4LLc position.
(3)Check if the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is code No.26 or 27 set?

Replace the ABS-ECU. Then go to Step 6.
The procedure is complete.

STEP 6. Check whether the diagnosis code is reset.

(1)Engine start.
(2)Move the transfer lever to the 4HLc or 4LLc position.
(3)Check if the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is code No.26 or 27 set?

It can be assumed that this malfunction is intermittent. Refer to GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction .
The procedure is complete.
