INSPECTION PROCEDURE B-1: The Sunroof does not work at All.



caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.





COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If the sunroof does not work at all, these power supply circuit(s), these earth circuit(s), sunroof switch or the sunroof motor assembly (sunroof ECU) may be defective.

POSSIBLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Vehicles destination.


Q. Where is your country?

Vehicles for South Africa : Go to Step 2.

Except vehicles for South Africa : Go to Step 3.

STEP 2. Check the power window main switch.


Check that the power window lock switch is turned off.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Turn off the power window lock switch.

STEP 3. ECU check on the SWS monitor.


Check that the power supply and earth lines to the sunroof motor assembly (sunroof-ECU) and the ETACS-ECU and the SWS communication lines are normal.

ECUS TO BE CHECKED
OK: "OK" are displayed for all the items.

Q. Are the check result normal?

YES <"OK" are displayed for all the items.> : Go to Step 4.

NO <"NG" is displayed on the "ETACS ECU" menu.> : Refer to GROUP 54C, inspection procedure 2 "Communication with ETACS-ECU is not possible ."

NO <"NG" is displayed on the "SUNROOF ECU" menu.> : Refer to GROUP 54C, inspection procedure 4 "Communication with sunroof motor assembly (sunroof-ECU) is not possible ."

STEP 4. Function diagnosis by using the SWS monitor


Check the SWS communication signal, which are related to the sunroof.

Q. Are the check result normal?

YES <Normal conditions are displayed for all the items.> : Go to Step 5.

NO <Normal condition is not displayed for item No.30.> : Refer to GROUP 54A, inspection procedure C-2 "The ignition switch (IG1) signal is not received ."

NO <Normal condition is not displayed for item No.72.> : Refer to GROUP 54A, inspection procedure C-10 When the sunroof switch is operated, the switch signal are not received ."

STEP 5. Retest the system.


The sunroof assembly should now work normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Replace the sunroof motor assembly.
