caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.


COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If the sunroof inhibition function does not work normally, the communication circuit, the power window lock switch input circuit, the sunroof motor assembly or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Which does not operate normally, the sunroof inhibition or the sunroof operation lock buzzer?


Q. Which does not operate normally, the sunroof inhibition or the sunroof operation lock buzzer?

YES <The sunroof inhibition does not work normally.> : Go to Step 2.

YES <The sunroof operation lock buzzer does not work normally.> : Go to Step 4.

YES <Neither operates normally.> : Go to Step 6.

Go to Step 8.

STEP 2. Check the operation condition of the sunroof.


Check that the sunroof works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. ECU check by using the SWS monitor.


Check that the power supply and earth lines to the ETACS-ECU and the sunroof motor assembly (incorporating sunroof-ECU) and the SWS communication lines are normal.

ECUS TO BE CHECKED
OK: "OK" is displayed on the "SUNROOF ECU" menu.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Refer to GROUP 54C, Inspection Procedure 5 "Communication with the sunroof motor assembly (sunroof-ECU) is not possible ."

STEP 4. ECU check on the SWS monitor


Check that the power supply and earth lines to the ETACS-ECU the SWS communication lines is normal.

ECUS TO BE CHECKED
OK: "OK" is displayed on the "ETACS ECU" menu.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Refer to GROUP 54C, Inspection Procedure 2 "Communication with the ETACS-ECU is not possible ."

STEP 5. SWS monitor data list


Check the SWS communication signal, which are related to the sunroof operation lock buzzer.

STEP 6. ECU check by using the SWS monitor


Check that the power supply and earth lines to the ETACS-ECU, the sunroof motor assembly (incorporating sunroof-ECU) and the power window main switch (power window module), and the SWS communication lines are normal.

OK: "OK" is displayed for all the items.

Q. Are the check result normal?

YES <"OK" is displayed for all the items.> : Go to Step 7.

NO <"NG" is displayed on the "ETACS ECU" menu.> : Refer to GROUP 54C, Inspection Procedure 2 "Communication with the ETACS-ECU is not possible ."

NO <"NG" is displayed on the "P/W MODULE" menu.> : Refer to GROUP 54C, Inspection Procedure 5 "Communication with the power window main switch (power window module) is not possible ."

NO <"NG" is displayed on the "SUNROOF ECU" menu.> : Refer to GROUP 54C, Inspection Procedure 4 "Communication with the sunroof motor assembly (sunroof-ECU) is not possible ."

STEP 7. Function diagnosis by using the SWS monitor


Check the SWS communication signal, which are related to the sunroof inhibition function.

NO <Normal condition is not displayed for item No.30> : Refer to GROUP 54A, inspection procedure 2 "The ignition switch (IG1) signal is not received ."

NO <Normal condition is not displayed for item No.43> : Replace the ETACS-ECU.

NO <Normal condition is not displayed for item No.71> : Replace the power window main switch.

NO <Normal condition is not displayed for item No.72> : Replace the sunroof motor assembly.

STEP 8. Retest the system.


Check that the sunroof inhibition function work normally.
