INSPECTION PROCEDURE A-3: The Central Door Locking System does not function by using The Door Lock Switch (incorporated with the power windows main switch). <Not Using SWS Monitor>



caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.





COMMENT ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If the central door locking system does not work normally only when the door lock switch (incorporated with the power windows main switch) is operated, the door lock switch (incorporated with the power windows main switch) or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

POSSIBLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the operation of the central door locking system.


Check that the central door locking system works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Refer to inspection procedure A-1 "Central door locking system does not work <Not using SWS monitor>" or <Using SWS monitor>."

STEP 2. Pulse check


Check the input signal, which is related to the driver’s door lock operation.
System switch
Check condition
Door lock switch (incorporated with the power windows main switch)
When the door lock switch is unlocked or locked
OK: The M.U.T.-III sound or the voltmeter needle fluctuate.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Refer to GROUP 54A, inspection procedure C-16 "The signal from the central door lock switch (incorporated with the power windows main switch) is not received <LH drive vehicles> or <RH drive vehicles>."

STEP 3. Retest the system.


Check that the central door locking system works normally by the Door lock switch (incorporated with the power windows main switch) operation.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Replace the ETACS-ECU.
