INSPECTION PROCEDURE A-4: The Central Door Locking System does not function by using the Door Key Cylinder. <Using SWS Monitor>

Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENT ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the central door locking system does not work normally only when the door key cylinder is operated, the door key switch or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

Malfunction of the door key switch
Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Step 1. ETACS switch data by using the SWS monitor

Check the ETACS-ECU signal, which is related to the driver’s key cylinder operation.

Driver’s door lock key cylinder: Unlock → Lock

Item 27	Centre door unlock switch	from ON to OFF

OK: Normal conditions are displayed for all the items.

Q. Are the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Refer to GROUP 54A, inspection procedure C-16 "The signal from the central door lock switch (incorporated with the power windows main switch) is not received

<LH drive vehicles> or

<RH drive vehicles>."

Step 2. Retest the system.

Check that the central door locking system works normally by the driver’s key cylinder operation.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction

Replace the ETACS-ECU.
