INSPECTION PROCEDURE A-2: Keyless Entry Hazard Lamp Answerback Function or the Room Lamp Answerback Function does not Work Normally.


caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If the hazard warning lamp and the room lamp work normally, the ETACS-ECU may be defective.
Alternatively, it is possible that the keyless entry hazard lamp answerback function was disabled by the customise function.

PROBABLE CAUSES



DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the operation of the hazard warning lamp.


Check that the hazard warning lamp illuminate normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Refer to GROUP 54A, inspection procedure "The hazard warning lamps do not illuminate <Not using SWS monitor> or <Using SWS monitor>."

STEP 2. Check the operation of the room lamps.


Check that the room lamps illuminate normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Refer to GROUP 54A, inspection procedure 1 "The interior lamps (room ramp, rear personal lamps, door lamps, luggage compartment lamp, key illumination lamp) does not illuminate or extinguish normally <Not using SWS monitor> or <Using SWS monitor>."

STEP 3. Check the operation of the keyless entry system.


If the keyless entry system is operated, check that the doors can be locked and unlocked normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Refer to inspection procedure A-1 "Keyless entry system does not work <Not using SWS monitor>" or inspection procedure B-1 "Keyless entry system does not work <Using SWS monitor>."

STEP 4. Check the power supply circuit.


When the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK (OFF) position, check if the hazard warning lamp illuminate.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Refer to GROUP 54A, inspection procedure A-1 "Check the ETACS-ECU battery power supply circuit <Not using SWS monitor> or <Using SWS monitor>."

STEP 5. Check the customise function.


Check that the keyless entry hazard lamp answerback function has been enabled by using the customise function.
caution The SWS monitor must be used in order to confirm and change that setting. Use the SWS monitor to confirm and/or change the customised function.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Enable the keyless entry hazard lamp answerback function by using the customise function (Refer to ).

STEP 6. Retest the system.


Check that the keyless entry hazard lamp answerback function or the room lamp answerback function work normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Replace the ETACS-ECU.
