INSPECTION PROCEDURE B-4: Encrypted Code cannot be Registered.


caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.


COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If the encrypted code registration mode is not entered, the key reminder switch, the hazard warning lamp switch or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.
If the registration is not possible although the registration mode is entered, the keyless entry transmitter or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

POSSIBLE CAUSES



DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Check the encrypted code registration mode.


Check that the encrypted code registration mode is entered.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. ETACS switch data by using the SWS monitor.


Check the relevant ETACS-ECU signal before entering the encrypted code registration mode.

Q. Are the check result normal?

YES <Normal conditions displayed for all the items> : Go to Step 3.

NO <Normal condition is not displayed for item No.03.> : Refer to GROUP 54A, inspection procedure C-11 "The key reminder switch signal is not received ."

NO <Normal condition is not displayed for item No.04.> : Refer to GROUP 54A, inspection procedure C-12 "The hazard warning lamp switch signal is not received ."

STEP 3. Use the SWS monitor to examine the keyless entry system for signal reception.


Check the condition of the keyless entry transmitter.

 UNLOCK switch signal
OK: By operating the switch as shown in the table above, relevant normal conditions are displayed.

Q. Are the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Refer to GROUP 54A, inspection procedure C-20 "Each switch signal of the keyless entry transmitter is not received ."

STEP 4. Retest the system.


Check that the encrypted code can be registered.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Replace the ETACS-ECU.
