Inspection Procedure 3: Tachometer does not Work (other meters work). <2800>

















COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If only the tachometer does not operate, the signal from the revolution pick-up sensor incorporated in the fuel injection pump assembly is not sent, or the combination meter, the wiring harness or its connector may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES



  • Malfunction of combination meter
  • Malfunction of fuel injection pump assembly
  • Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Connector check: D-04 combination meter connector and B-41 fuel imjection pump assembly connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Repair or replace the damaged component(s).

STEP 2. Retest the system.


Q. Is the tachometer normal?

Intermittent Malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between D-04 combination meter connector terminal No.13, 14 and B-41 fuel imjection pump assembly connector terminal No.4, 1.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector D-230, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Repair or replace the damaged component(s).

STEP 4. Replace the combination meter temporarily and retest the system.


Replace the combination meter temporarily, and check to see that the tachometer operates normally.

Q. Is the tachometer normal?

Replace the combination meter assembly.
Replace the fuel injection pump assembly.
