Inspection Procedure 4: The Luggage Compartment Lamp does not Illuminate Normally.



caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.




























COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If the luggage compartment lamp does not turn on and off normally, wiring harness connector(s) or the bulb may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Pulse check


Check the input signals below, which are related to the luggage compartment lamp.
System switch
Check condition
Driver’s door switch
Driver’s door is opened while all the other doors are closed.
Passenger’s door switch
Passenger’s door is opened while all the other doors are closed.
Rear door (RH) switch
Rear door (RH) is opened while all the other doors are closed
Rear door (LH) switch
Rear door (LH) door is opened while all the other doors are closed
Back door switch
Back door is opened while all the other doors are closed
Driver’s door lock actuator switch (unlock switch)
When the driver’s door is unlocked or locked
OK: The M.U.T.-III sounds or the voltmeter needle fluctuates.

Q. Is the check result normal?

YES (All the signals are received normally) : Go to Step 2.

NO (All the door switch signals are not received) : Refer to ETACS - Input Signal Chart .

NO (The driver’s door lock actuator switch (unlock switch) signal is not received) : Refer to ETACS - Input Signal Chart .

STEP 2. Connector check: E-107 luggage compartment lamp connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 3. Check the bulb of the luggage compartment lamp.


Check that the luggage compartment lamp bulb are not burned out.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Replace the luggage compartment lamp bulb.

STEP 4. Check the lugggage compartment lamp switch.


Check which position (ON or DOOR) of the luggage compartment lamp switch does not activate the relevant lamp.

Q. Which switch position does not activate the lamp?

YES (All of the lamps illuminate normally) : The procedure is complete.

NO (The lamp does not illuminates at neither the ON nor DOOR position) : Go to Step 5.

NO (The lamp does not illuminate at the DOOR position) : Go to Step 7.

NO (The lamp does not illuminate at the ON position) : Go to Step 9.

STEP 5. Connector check: D-419 ETACS-ECU connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 6. Check the wiring harness from D-419 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.6 to E-107 luggage compartment lamp connector terminal No.3.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector D-130, E-128, joint connector D-34 and junction block connector D-410, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the luggage compartment lamp.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 7. Connector check: D-419 ETACS-ECU connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 8. Check the wiring harness from D-419 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.5 to E-107 luggage compartment lamp connector terminal No.1.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector D-130, E-128, joint connector D-34 and junction block connector D-410, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the luggage compartment lamp.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 9. Check the wiring harness from E-107 luggage compartment lamp connector terminal No.2 to body earth.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector E-128 and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the luggage compartment lamp.

Repair the wiring harness.
