Inspection Procedure 1: The Interior Lamps (Room Lamp, Personal Lamps, Door Lamps, Luggage Compartment Lamp, Key Illumination Lamp) does not Illuminate or Extinguish Normally.

caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

The ETACS-ECU operates the interior lamps (room lamp, personal lamps. luggage compartment lamp, door lamps, key cylinder illumination lamp) in accordance with the input signals below.

If this function does not work normally, these input signal circuit(s) or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check the power supply circuit.

When the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK (OFF) position, check if the hazard warning lamps illuminate.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Refer to ETACS - inspection procedure A-1 "Check the battery power supply circuit to the ETACS-ECU ."

STEP 2. Check the illumination of the interior lamps.

Check that the interior lamps illuminate and extinguish.
note Check that the interior lamps illuminate or extinguish when the interior lamp switches are operated. For the room lamp and the personal lamps, check they illuminate when the lamp switches are turned to the ON or DOOR position.

Q. Which of the interior lamp does no illuminate or extinguish?

YES (All of the interior lamps illuminate and extinguish normally) : The procedure is complete.

NO (No lamps illuminate at all) : Replace the ETACS-ECU.

NO (When the interior lamp switches are turned to the ON position, no lamps illuminate at all. Alternatively, when the interior lamp switches are turned to the OFF position, all the interior lamps illuminate) : Refer to ETACS - Input Signal Chart .

NO (If the interior lamp switches are turned to the ON position, none of the room lamp and the personal lamps illuminate at all) : Go to Step 3.

NO (The room lamp and the personal lamps do not illuminate or extinguish normally when the switches are at the DOOR position) : Go to Step 5.

NO (Only the room lamp does not illuminate or extinguish normally) : Refer to inspection procedure 2 "The room lamp does not illuminate normally ."

NO (Only right or left personal lamp does not illuminate or extinguish normally) : Refer to inspection procedure 3 "The personal lamp does not illuminate normally ."

NO (Only the luggage compartment lamp does not illuminate or extinguish normally) : Refer to inspection procedure 4 "The luggage compartment lamp does not illuminate normally ."

NO (Only the door lamps do not illuminate or extinguish normally) : Refer to Inspection procedure 5 "The door lamps does not illuminate normally ."

NO (Only the key cylinder illumination lamp does not illuminate or extinguish normally) : Refer to Ignition Switch - inspection procedure "The ignition key cylinder illumination lamp does not illuminate/extinguish normally." .

STEP 3. Connector check: D-419 ETACS-ECU connector and E-102 room lamp connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 4. Check the wiring harness from D-419 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.6 to E-102 room lamp connector terminal No.10.

note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector D-130, joint connector D-34 and junction block connector D-410, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the ETACS-ECU.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 5. Connector check: D-419 ETACS-ECU connector and E-102 room lamp connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 6. Check the wiring harness from D-419 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.5 to E-102 room lamp connector terminal No.8.

note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector D-130, joint connector D-34 and junction block connector D-410, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the ETACS-ECU.

Repair the wiring harness.
