Inspection Procedure 5: Obstacle is not Detected even when The Selector Lever is Shifted to "R" (Reverse) Position.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If obstacle is not detected even when the selector lever is shifted to "R" (reverse) position, the wiring harness, connectors, inhibitor switch <A/T>, back-up lamp switch <M/T>, or corner sensor-ECU may be defective. In addition, obstacle is not detected when the ultrasonic noise is received.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of the inhibitor switch <A/T> or back-up lamp switch <M/T>
  • Malfunction of corner sensor-ECU
  • Malfunction of reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor)

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check the reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor) for interference.

Q. Are there anything that interferes with the communication (things that generate radio waves such as magnets and an air-cleaning device that has a power plug) near the reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor)?

Move away or remove things that interfere with the communication (things that generate radio waves such as magnets and a air-cleaning device that has a power plug) near the reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Connector check: D-16 corner sensor-ECU connector and C-05 inhibitor switch connector <A/T> or C-17 back-up lamp switch connector <M/T>.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between C-05 inhibitor switch connector terminal No. 8 <A/T> or C-17 back-up lamp switch connector terminal No. 1 <M/T> and D-16 corner sensor-ECU connector terminal No. 1.

note Before the wiring harness inspection, inspect the intermediate connectors D-225, and D-230, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 4. Connector check: G-08 back sensor (RH) connector.

Go to Step 10.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 10. Connector check: E-113-1 corner sensor (rear: LH) connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 11.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 11. Check the wiring harness between E-113-1 corner sensor (rear: LH) connector terminal No. 1, 2 and D-16 corner sensor-ECU connector terminal No. 7, 10.

note Before the wiring harness inspection, inspect the intermediate connectors E-113, E-119, and D-222, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 12.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 12. Verification after back sensor (RH) replacement

After replacing the back sensor (RH), verify that the reversing sensor system works normally.
