Inspection Procedure 1: The Approach Lamps does not Illuminate or Extinguish Normally.



caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.
















COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


The ETACS-ECU operates the approach lamps in accordance with the input signals below.

If this function does not work normally, these input signal circuit(s) or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

YES (Normal conditions are displayed for all the items) : Go to Step 3.

NO (Normal condition is not displayed for item No.03) : Refer to ETACS - Input Signal Chart .

NO (Normal condition is not displayed for item No.05, 07, 41 or 42) : Refer to ETACS - Input Signal Chart .

NO (Normal condition is not displayed for item No.22) : Refer to ETACS - Input Signal Chart .

STEP 3. Retest the system.


Check that the approach lamps illuminate normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Fuse check: Fuse No.8 and No.24.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Replace the fuse.

STEP 5. Check the bulb of the approach lamps.


Check the bulb of the defective lamp.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Replace the bulb(s) of the defective lamp.

STEP 6. Connector check: F-09-1 approach lamp (RH) or F-04-1 approach lamp (LH) connector.


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 7. Check the wiring harness from fusible link No.1 to F-09-1 approach lamp (RH) connector terminal No.2 or F-04-1 approach lamp (LH) connector terminal No.2.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector D-114 <approach lamp (RH)>, D-133 <approach lamp (LH)>, D-238, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 8. Connector check: D-420 ETACS-ECU connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 9.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 9. Check the wiring harness from D-420 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.52 to F-09-1 approach lamp (RH) connector terminal No.1 or F-04-1 approach lamp (LH) connector terminal No.1.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector D-114 <approach lamp (RH)>, D-133 <approach lamp (LH)>, joint connector D-34 and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 10. Retest the system.


Check that the approach lamps illuminate normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Replace the ETACS-ECU.
