Inspection Procedure 7: The Foot Lamps and Ceiling Lamp do not Illuminate or Extinguish Normally. <Vehicles without Keyless Entry System>



caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.






























COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


The ETACS-ECU operates the foot lamps and ceiling lamp in accordance with the input signals below.

If this function does not work normally, these input signal circuit(s) or the ETACS-ECU may be defective.

YES (Normal conditions are displayed for all the items) : Go to Step 3.

NO (Normal condition is not displayed for item No.03) : Refer to ETACS - Input Signal Chart .

NO (Normal condition is not displayed for item No.05, 07, 41 or 42) : Refer to ETACS - Input Signal Chart .

NO (Normal condition is not displayed for item No.22) : Refer to ETACS - Input Signal Chart .

STEP 3. Pulse check


Check the input signals below, which is related to the room lamp.

Check condition
Interior lamp ON switch
When turned from OFF to ON
Interior lamp OFF switch
When turned from ON to OFF
OK: The M.U.T.-III sounds or the voltmeter needle fluctuates.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Refer to ETACS - Input Signal Chart .

STEP 4. Retest the system.


Check that the foot lamp and ceiling lamp illuminates when the interior lamp switch is operated.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check the illumination of the foot lamps and the ceiling lamp.



Q. Which of the foot lamps or the ceiling lamp does no illuminate or extinguish?

YES (All of the lamps illuminate normally) : The procedure is complete.

NO (The front foot lamp (RH or LH) does not illuminate normally) : Go to Step 6.

NO (The rear foot lamp does not illuminate normally) : Go to Step 9.

NO (The ceiling lamp does not illuminate normally) : Go to Step 13.

STEP 6. Connector check: D-420 ETACS-ECU connector, D-17 front foot lamp (RH) connector, D-26 front foot lamp (LH) connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 7. Check the wiring harness from D-420 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.71 to D-17 front foot lamp (RH) connector terminal No.1 or D-26 front foot lamp (LH) connector terminal No.1.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check joint connector D-34 and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 8. Check the wiring harness from D-420 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.69 to D-17 front foot lamp (RH) connector terminal No.2 or D-26 front foot lamp (LH) connector terminal No.2.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check joint connector D-34 and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the front foot lamp.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 9. Connector check: D-419 ETACS-ECU connector, E-125 rear foot lamp connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 10. Check the wiring harness from D-419 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.6 to E-125 rear foot lamp connector terminal No.1.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector D-219 <L.H. drive vehicles>, joint connector D-34 <L.H. drive vehicles> and junction block connector D-410 <L.H. drive vehicles>, D-422 <R.H. drive vehicles> and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 11.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 11. Connector check: D-420 ETACS-ECU connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 12.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 12. Check the wiring harness from D-420 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.69 to E-125 rear foot lamp connector terminal No.2.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector D-219 and joint connector D-34, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the rear foot lamp.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 13. Connector check: D-420 ETACS-ECU connector, E-103 ceiling lamp connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 14.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 14. Check the wiring harness from D-420 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.71 to E-103 ceiling lamp connector terminal No.1.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector D-130, E-128, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 15.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 15. Check the wiring harness from D-420 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No.69 to E-103 ceiling lamp connector terminal No.2.


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector D-130, E-128, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Replace the ceiling lamp.

Repair the wiring harness.
