REMOVAL SERVICE POINTS

<<A>> ALTERNATOR AND OTHERS BELT REMOVAL

The following operations will be needed due to the introduction of the serpentine drive system with the alternator drive belt auto-tensioner.

1.Securely insert the spindle handle or ratchet handle with a 12.7 mm insertion angle into the jig hole of the alternator drive belt auto-tensioner.
2.Rotate the alternator drive belt auto-tensioner clockwise and align hole A with hole B.

3.
caution To reuse the alternator and others belt, draw an arrow indicating the rotating direction (clockwise) on the back of the alternator and others belt using chalk, etc.
Insert an L-shaped hexagon wrench, etc. into the hole to fix and then remove the alternator and others belt.

<<B>> CRANKSHAFT PULLEY CENTRE BOLT/CRANKSHAFT PULLEY WASHER/CRANKSHAFT PULLEY REMOVAL

1.Use the following special tools to support the crankshaft pulley:

  • Pulley holder (MB991800)
  • Pin (MB991802)
2.Loosen the crankshaft pulley centre bolt and remove the crankshaft pulley washer and crankshaft pulley.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS

>>A<< CRANKSHAFT PULLEY/CRANKSHAFT PULLEY WASHER/CRANKSHAFT PULLEY CENTRE BOLT INSTALLATION

1.Wipe off the dirt on the front flange, the crankshaft and the crankshaft pulley as shown in the figure using a rag, and then degrease the areas.
note Degrease them to prevent drop in the friction coefficient of the pressed area, which is caused by oil adhesion.
2.Install the crankshaft pulley.
3.Wipe off the dirt on the crankshaft pulley washer and the crankshaft pulley centre bolt as shown in the figure using a rag.
4.Apply an adequate and minimum amount of engine oil to the threads of the crankshaft pulley centre bolt and the lower area of the flange centre bolt and the lower area of the flange.

5.Use the following special tool as during removal to support the crankshaft pulley:

  • Pulley holder (MB991800)
  • Pin (MB991802)
6.Install the crankshaft pulley washer to the crankshaft pulley centre bolt.

7.Tighten the crankshaft pulley centre bolt according to the following procedure.
(1) Tighten the crankshaft pulley centre bolt to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 110 N·m
(2)
caution Make sure to apply a paint mark not on the crankshaft pulley washer but on the crankshaft pulley. The crankshaft pulley washer may rotate with the crankshaft pulley centre bolt.
As shown in the illustration "A", apply paint marks on a corner of the crankshaft pulley centre bolt and on the crankshaft pulley.
(3)
caution
  • If the crankshaft pulley centre bolt is turned less than 60°, proper fastening performance may not be achieved. Be careful to tighten the crankshaft pulley centre bolt exactly 60°.
  • If the crankshaft pulley centre bolt is overtightened (exceeding 60°), remove the bolt to start from the beginning again according to the procedure.
Tighten the crankshaft pulley centre bolt by 60°. Make sure the paint mark of crankshaft pulley centre bolt is aligned with the paint mark of crankshaft pulley as shown in the illustration "B".
(4) Loosen the crankshaft pulley centre bolt fully.
caution Do not confuse with the paint mark applied on the first procedure.
(5) Repeat procedure (1)-(3).

>>B<< ALTERNATOR AND OTHERS BELT INSTALLATION

1.
caution
  • To reuse the alternator and others belt, install it by aligning the arrow mark on the backside of belt marked at the removal with the rotating direction.
  • Check that the notches of the notched pulley and the notches of the alternator and others belt are fit correctly.
  • Check that the alternator and others belt is installed in the centre of the flat surface of the flat pulley.
Install the alternator and others belt to each pulley as shown in the figure.

2.Securely insert the spindle handle or ratchet handle with a 12.7 mm insertion angle into the jig hole of the alternator drive belt auto-tensioner.
3.Turn the alternator drive belt auto-tensioner clockwise slightly and remove the L-shaped hexagon wrench to fix the alternator drive belt auto-tensioner.
4.Apply tension to the alternator and others belt while slowly turning the spindle handle or ratchet handle to rotate the alternator drive belt auto-tensioner anti-clockwise.
