REMOVAL SERVICE POINT



<<A>> DRIVE PLATE BOLT REMOVAL



1.Use special tool flywheel stopper (MB991883) to secure the inertia ring.
2.Remove the drive plate bolts.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS



>>A<< CRANKSHAFT REAR OIL SEAL INSTALLATION


1.Apply a small amount of engine oil to the entire inner diameter of the crankshaft rear oil seal lip.


2.Use the following special tools, press-fit a new crankshaft rear oil seal into the oil seal case.

  • Installer bar (MB990938)
  • Oil seal installer (MB991818)

>>B<< INERTIA RING/DRIVE PLATE/ADAPTER PLATE/DRIVE PLATE BOLT INSTALLATION


1.Remove all the residual sealant and the engine oil from the drive plate and the adapter plate.
2.Remove all the residual sealant and the engine oil from the threaded hole in the crankshaft.
When the drive plate bolt is reused, carefully remove the residual sealant and the engine oil from the bolt thread.

3.Use special tool flywheel stopper (MB991883) to secure the inertia ring in the same manner as removal.
4.Apply an adequate and minimum amount of engine oil to the bolt seating surface on the drive plate bolt, the drive plate and the adapter plate.
5.Apply an adequate and minimum amount of engine oil to the threaded hole in the crankshaft.

6.Install the adapter plate in the direction shown in the illustration.
7.When the drive plate bolt is reused, apply the sealant to its thread.
Specified sealant: ThreeBond 1324 or equivalent

8.Tighten the drive plate bolts to the specified torque in the order shown in the illustration.
Tightening torque: 40 ± 2 N·m
9.Tighten the drive plate bolts to the specified torque again in the order shown in the illustration.
Tightening torque: 135 ± 5 N·m
