Code No. P0500: Vehicle Speed Signal System <4WD>

FUNCTION

The engine-ECU receives vehicle speed signal from ABS-ECU/ASTC-ECU via the CAN communication.

TROUBLE JUDGEMENT

Check Conditions

More than 2 seconds have passed since the engine starting sequence was completed.
CAN communication is normal
Battery positive voltage is more than 11 V and is less than 16.5 V.

Judgement Criterion

The vehicle speed information from ABS-ECU/ASTC-ECU is abnormal for 2 seconds.

PROBABLE CAUSES

Failed ABS-ECU/ASTC-ECU.
Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Confirm whether the diagnosis code is set in ABS-ECU/ASTC-ECU.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

	Perform troubleshooting of the ABS or ASTC (Refer to GROUP 35B - Troubleshooting - Diagnosis Code Chart <ABS>, refer to GROUP 35C - Troubleshooting - Diagnosis Code Chart <ASTC>).

	Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the speedometer.

Q. Is the indication of speedometer normal?

	Go to Step 3.

	Replace the ABS-ECU/ASTC-ECU.

STEP 3. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

	Replace the engine-ECU.

	Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions).
