DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III actuator test

  • Item 1: No. 2 injector
OK: Idling state varies.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check No. 2 injector itself.

  • Injector check (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Replace the No. 2 injector.

STEP 3. Voltage measurement at No. 2 injector connector (power supply line).

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Ignition switch: "ON"
(3)Check the voltage between the No. 2 injector connector (power supply line) and body earth.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Repair or replace the connector(s), or check and repair the harness of short to earth, and open circuit in power supply line between engine control relay connector and No. 2 injector connector.

STEP 4. Check of harness damage in power supply line between engine control relay connector and No. 2 injector connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Check of short to earth, open circuit and damage in INJ2 line between No. 2 injector connector and engine-ECU connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 6. Perform signal wave pattern measurement at engine-ECU connector (Using an oscilloscope).

(1)Engine: Idling
(2)Transmission: P range
(3)Check the voltage between the engine-ECU connector (INJ2 terminal) and body earth.
OK: Waveforms should be displayed on inspection procedure using an oscilloscope (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
Replace the engine-ECU.
