Code No.P0707: Inhibitor Switch System (Open Circuit)

PROBABLE CAUSES

OPERATION

The inhibitor switch detects the selector lever position (P, R, N, D) which the driver has selected, and sends the information to the A/T-ECU.

DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS

If a status continues for 5 seconds with which all the signals from inhibitor switch are OFF, code No.P0707 is set.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Inhibitor switch and control cable adjustment

Refer to .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Adjust the inhibitor switch and control cable.

STEP 2. Measure the voltage at inhibitor switch connector.

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage between terminal power supply line and body earth at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
OK: Battery voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.
Check for open circuit and short circuit in power supply line between inhibitor switch connector and J/B connector. Then repair the connector(s) or the wiring harness.

STEP 3. Measure the voltage at A/T-ECU connector.

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage between terminal A line and body earth at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
OK [Selector lever position (P, R)]: System voltage
(3)Measure the voltage between terminal B line and body earth at the wiring harness side.
OK [Selector lever position (R, N, D)]: System voltage
(4)Measure the voltage between terminal C line and body earth at the wiring harness side.
OK [Selector lever position (D)]: System voltage
(5)Measure the voltage between terminal PA line and body earth at the wiring harness side.
OK [Selector lever position (P, N)]: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check the inhibitor switch.

Refer to .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Replace the inhibitor switch.

STEP 5. Check for open circuit and short circuit in A, B, C, PA line between inhibitor switch connector and A/T-ECU connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.
Repair the connector(s) or the wiring harness.

STEP 6. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.

  • Ignition switch: "LOCK"(OFF) → "ON"
  • Check again if the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is diagnosis code No.P0707 set?

Replace the A/T-ECU.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
