Code No.P2742: A/T Fluid Temperature Sensor 2 System (Short Circuit)

OPERATION

DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS

While the engine is running, when a status continues for 1 minute with which the input voltage from fluid temperature sensor 2 is less than standard value, code No.P2742 is set.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Measure the resistance at A/T-ECU connector.

Disconnect the connector, and measure the resistance between terminal OTS2 line and body earth line at the sensor side.
OK: No continuity

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Measure the resistance at A/T-ECU connector.

  • Disconnect the connector, and measure the resistance between terminal OTS2 and body earth at the wiring harness side.
OK: No continuity

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check the A/T fluid temperature sensor.

Refer to .

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Replace the A/T fluid temperature sensor 2.

STEP 4. Check for open circuit and short circuit in OTS2, GSE2 line between A/T fluid temperature sensor 2 connector and A/T-ECU connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.

STEP 5. Check whether the diagnosis code is set again.

  • Ignition switch: "LOCK"(OFF) → "ON"
  • Check again if the diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is diagnosis code No.P2742 set?

Replace the A/T-ECU.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
